Well, it seems I like BG decks too much… Anyway, welcome to the fourth episode of companions breaking Primordial! Today we’re looking at Gyruda, Doom of Depths, and we try to build an even reanimator!
As usual, the goal of your deck will be to ramp until you can cast your companion and bring powerful creatures to the table! For this you will get access to another Mutate Package, including, as usual, Essence Symbiote,
Migratory Greathorn and
Humble Naturalist. To preserve your life points while ramping you have access to
Boot Nipper, a solid two-drop in almost every matchup. If you need some removal, Black gets you covered, providing you
Chittering Harvester,
Dirge Bat,
Blood Curdle and the Almighty
Heartless Act!
You also got Gemrazer who can be mutated to get a big creature early in the game! Then, at the best timing, Release the Kraken! And if you’re lucky enough,
Void Beckoner will come out! Else you can get
Blitz Leech, a good body with a nice ETB.
Your sideboard is filled with value! You got Chevill, Bane of Monsters, a favorite of mine, who’s great against aggro and midrange,
Honey Mammoth, in case you need larger beast to drop with Gyruda, and another Naturalist to ramp even more. You also got
Wilt, to answer boring artifacts or enchantments, and
Extinction Event, who can possibly be a one-sided wrath due to your specific conditions from Gyruda.
